Orange Cross Ambulance (OCA) is a high performance ambulance service offering emergent and non-emergent care for the City and County of Sheboygan. OCA is comprised of 911 responses, interfacility transports, and critical care transports. All primary response units are staffed with two paramedics and are equipped with state of the art equipment. Dispatcher/Biller Job Description:
TECHNICAL DUTIES:
- Knowledge: Strives to obtain and effectively use various types of knowledge.
- Background knowledge of reimbursement process.
- Understands ambulance reimbursement to complete informal Medicare telephone reviews.
- Able to recognize and authorize viable collection suits.
- Background knowledge of billing terminology.
- Communications: Facilitates constructive communication on all levels.
- Strong customer service skills when confronted with billing issues, involving, but not limited to, payers, data, and reimbursement.
- Strong understanding of dispatch and strong communication skills.
- Functions: Understands and performs specific job functions.
- Perform patient data entry.
- Accountability: Understands and accepts accountability for actions.
- Accepts responsibility for own actions.
Paramedic Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides care to the sick and injured and for individuals who need transportation to a medical facility. In addition, the individual is capable of providing on-scene care and determining when non-conveyance is appropriate. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
- Reports to Operations Director, who in turn reports to the Executive Director
- No subordinates formally report to this position, however, may provide daily work direction and guidance to EMT students, Paramedic students, and dispatch trainees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Competent in the area of Commitment to Service by providing distinctive, personalized care and services by listening, anticipating and responding to the needs of both internal (co-workers, fellow employees, etc.) and external (patients, family members, first responders, physicians, etc.) customers and strives to exceed customer expectations.

- Provides care for patients within the company's scope of practice.
- Coordinates and provides care for patients according to accepted standards, local protocol, and state law.

- Assist in maintenance of crews quarters
- Assist in ambulance maintenance.
- Responds to emergency and non-emergency situations as requested.
- Capable of providing critical level care for extended times and distances

- Extra Tasks: Able to accept and complete extra tasks and assignments.
- Stays late or comes in during times of critical staffing situations.
- Other assignments as assigned by dispatcher, supervisor, manager, or Director.

SPECIALIZED REQUIREMENTS:
- Current Paramedic Wisconsin licensure. National Registry preferred.
- Maintains necessary continuing education requirements.
- Physical exam shows capability to work.
- Maintains current State of Wisconsin Drivers License and the ability to operate the ambulance safely.
- Maintains ability to be insured by company insurance carrier.
- Has ability to read and interpret maps.
- Demonstrates paramedic competencies for this position.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding dispatch and customer service.
MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Heavy physical activity required. May require moving patients across long distances or up and down stairs.
- Visual color discrimination and visual acuity is necessary. Correction by lenses permissible.
- No apparent social or psychological inconvenience.
- Hazards and risks due to exposure to infectious disease or hazardous materials are possible.
- Potential injuries connected with restraining combative psychiatric patients, auto extrications and rescue activities.
